What convinced Don to choose Lumina

“Sabi nga nila, mas magandang bumili ng lupa at magpatayo ka ng bahay, sarili mo pa ‘yung style ng bahay. Pero ako, mas pinili ko pa rin ang Lumina Homes dahil nagustuhan ko ‘yung community. (Some people say that it is better to buy a lot and build a house so you could choose every element you want for your home and you would get what you want. But I decided to purchase Lumina Homes instead because I like the community. When I saw my Lumina Homes unit, I just fell in love with it. I didn't encounter any problem during the homebuying process).

“‘Yung bahay, nasa sa kanila na rin naman kung paano aayusin ang interior. Kapag nakita mo ‘yung Lumina Angelique Home Model na 35 sqm. iisipin mo na maliit, pero once na pinaganda at pinag-isipan mo ‘yung loob, masasabi mong ‘wow’ sa Lumina Homes. Kaya kapag sinabi mong Lumina Homes, hindi siya pwedeng sabihin na “lang” kasi maganda siya kapag inayos.”

Don also happily shared that through his simple post, many were inspired to do a home investment as well as the how-tos of maximizing a cozy home.

"Marami ang na-inspire kumuha ng unit sa Lumina Homes na relative and friends after nila makita nila yung bahay. May mga nagmessage din sa akin na mga Lumina unit owners din kung paano ko nagawa yung interior ng bahay ko."

According to his trending post on Facebook, he has been waiting for this time for a very long time already. That is why when he finally saw his dream house come to life, he was so ecstatic. To him, it was a goal unlocked, all thanks to his hard work, determination, and his kids, who, as he said, are his inspiration.

Single Father: Instant daddy

Like any single person would be, Don, who was 23 at that time, enjoyed the life of a bachelor—working, drinking with friends, and dating around. Then, he met a woman, went out for three months, and got separated. A year later, the woman revealed to Don that she gave birth to fraternal twin boys, which, as the woman said, were his.

In an interview with ANC, Don said that he refused to believe it at first, thinking how it was possible, especially that it was a long time ago since they broke up. And that he wasn't ready to leave the bachelor life yet.

"Pinaka-challenge sa akin ‘yung dumating sila na I am not yet ready. Ang nangyari kasi sa akin, instant daddy ako. Dinala kasi sila sa akin, one year and three months na 'yung kambal," Don reveals.

(The most challenging part was when they came to my life when I wasn't even ready to be a father yet. What happened was, I became an instant daddy because they were brought to me when the twins were one year and three months old already).

But when he saw the photos of Johnkiel and Dartlee, who were one-year-olds that time, he knew right away they were his children, but still, he asked for a DNA test. When the results arrived, his instincts were proven right.

He was happy being the father of two, but Don admitted that it was not easy to transition from being single to being a father. Even when the twins were with him already, he was still living like a bachelor. But then Don realized he has to change for the kids. And he did.

Then came 2020, their family of three suddenly became a family of four when his daughter Sabrina entered the picture. As you know, it is not only in TV Dramas where a father meets a kid without even knowing she's his because Don is the living proof of that. For the second time in his life, Don requested a DNA test, which proved Sabrina was indeed his.

"She (Sabrina's mom) told me na kaya hindi niya sinabing may anak kami kasi hindi niya nakita 'yung future niya sa akin, at future ng magiging anak niya. Kasi sobrang gago ko dati," recalls Don in his ANC interview. He admits that it's true, but that was years ago because Don is a changed man now.

They explained the whole situation to Sabrina, and thankfully, the kid understood. Now, Don has three kids who are getting along well. He might not have a wife right now, but he's happy just being with his three kids.

Don Dizon is now having a good balance of his time with work, family Youtube channel, and dad duties to his children, shared his Daddy tips with all other fathers. "Love them. Take care of them. We do not need naman to be perfect fathers for our kids, we have so many ways to show love, care and give them their needs. Actually, marami kasi ako nababasa ako na comments na, "Hindi lahat ng father katulad mo."

Instead of being flattered with the compliments, it saddens him.

"Nalulungkot ako kasi ganun ang tingin nila sa ibang mga daddy. Hindi naman kasi lahat ng Dads expressive compared to Moms. Like my Father, tahimik lang sya, pero ramdam namin ang mga pagmamahal. Akala siguro ng iba ganun lang ang mga Daddy, pero ang pagmamahal naman ng mga Daddy same lang ng pagmamahal ng mga Mommy sa kanilang mga anak, magkakaiba lang ng way ng expression." says Don.

Now that Father's Day is just around the corner, Don and his kids are just planning to celebrate it at home for the whole family's safety. He enjoys simple days spent at his Lumina Home with his kids, like helping them with their studies, watching TV, enjoying their portable pool, and doing Youtube family videos with them.

Every Juan's Guide to Buying a House and Lot on a Budget

With the large number of financial housing loan programs that you can consider, home buying can be easier. These loans can come from banks or the most common option, pag-ibig housing loan. They are currently implementing housing loan programs for several sectors of the labor force: the Affordable Housing Program (Subsidized Program), Employer Accreditation Program (EAP), and Home Matching Program. The Subsidized Program, which was launched in 2012, would be the most feasible option for minimum wage earners.

If you're a Pag-IBIG member, you may borrow up to P750,000 with a maximum repayment period of 30 years. However, the loan amount you will receive shall still depend on either the actual amount you need, your loan entitlement based on capacity to pay, or loan-to-appraised value ratio–whichever is lowest. Eligible members shall be entitled to special, affordable interest rates. The 3% interest rate can be enjoyed for the first five years of the loan term, while the 6.5% rate can be enjoyed during the first ten.

The pag-ibig housing loan program allows minimum and low-wage earners to buy their own dream homes as it carries the lowest interest rate in the market today: 3% annual interest for the first five years of the loan term.

Who is qualified for the Pag-IBIG Housing Loan Program?

The Pag-IBIG Fund Housing Loan Program is available to all active Pag-IBIG Fund members, who have satisfied the following requirements:

At least 24 monthly savings. Lump-sum payment of the required 24 months savings is allowed;
Not more than 65 years old, and not more than 70 years old maturity of the date of loan application;
Has the legal capacity to acquired and encumber real property;
Passed satisfactory background/credit and employment/business checks of Pag-IBIG Fund;
Has no outstanding Pag-IBIG Fund Short-Term Loan (STL) in arrears at the time of loan application;
Has no Pag-IBIG Fund Housing Loan that was foreclosed, cancelled, bought back due to default, or subjected to dacion en pago. If with an existing pag-ibig housing loan account, either as principal borrower or co-borrower, it must be updated.
