Where To Go in San Jose City Nueva Ecija that will Freshen up your Energy
24 July 2022Nueva Ecija, a province in the north, is frequently neglected or just passed through on the way to Baguio, Banaue, and other locations. It does, however, have its own sights worth seeing, whether on a day trip or a multi-day excursion and one of those is the City of San Jose.
The city of San Jose, located at the entryway to the Cagayan Valley and Pangasinan Province, has the potential to become an agroindustrial powerhouse. Investors are urged to set up a sophisticated cold warehouse facility or a food terminal and manufacturing center. Feed, fertilizer, upholstery, jewelry, and consumer goods are just a few of the other sectors that might need a boost right now.
But apart from this, San Jose City being known as the Onion Capital also has its yet-to-be-discovered hidden treasures by wandering tourists.
Places to visit in San Jose Nueva Ecija Province
Below are some of the soothing and serene places that you can visit in San Jose City if you want to quickly recharge yourself this coming weekend:
1. Palaspas Falls
The neighborhood or barrio in Manicla in the City of San Jose Province of Nueva Ecija, is seven kilometers from the Poblacion, on the outskirts of the city. Visiting this city's border will let you discover the natural visual beauty of the Palaspas Falls.
Formerly located in the area was a frightening forest that is now turned into one of the Nueva Ecija tourist spots. Its modest presence was only heightened by the sound of tumbling waterfalls that were accidentally hidden under snarled tree branches and dense undergrowth.
The Palaspas Falls is a breath of fresh air and a haven of peace. It's a great place to have a picnic and go swimming, particularly in the summer, with your loved ones, friends, or families.

2. Tayabo Nature Park or Diamond Park
Tayabo Nature Park is a man-made park that serves as a picnic area and a place for tourists to go for a walk. Being dubbed as the Gateway to Cagayan Valley, it is famous for its 100-step stairway that leads up to the hilltops, where lamp-lit pagodas give stunning views of the Sierra Madre Mountains and northern Nueva Ecija. The park was renamed Tayabo Nature Site in 2005 to highlight the park's natural beauty.
This is a popular tourist destination for both locals and visitors from across the world in Central Luzon because of its Hundred-Step Staircase, in which you may get a panoramic picture of the area and mountains that surround it from its peak.
It's a great place to spend time with your loved ones, family, and friends as you can invite them along to see the magnificent view of its peak and enjoy the breath of fresh air. You may be tired at first, but after climbing all of those stairs to the summit and witnessing that breathtaking view, you'll be glad that you did it!
There is also a river or what is known as the 4th Camp, or Kampokwatro by the locals. You'll find it underneath Tayabo Nature Park, where you may go swimming or picnicking with loved ones. Even though it seems to be a waterfall, there are no real drops to be seen there. In addition to the Hundred Steps stairway and the 4th Camp, there is a children's playground and other animals, such as monkeys and birds, to see and interact with. As a plus, there are also many trees in the surrounding area.
This is a great spot for anybody looking to de-stress, as well as a great spot for couples, families, and young children to hang out and have fun.

3. Maasip Trail
For mountain biking and trekking, Maasip Trail in Nueva Ecija province is a popular destination for residents and tourists alike. Kabaritan was the name given to the region by the Spanish invaders before they established San Jose City, in honor of a local plant. Agriculture is the primary source of income in the city, which is located on a vast expanse of farmland. Halfway to the finish of the route, when the paved road terminates, is a particularly difficult section of the trail. Lots of washed-out and difficult ascents are to be expected here.
This 71.6-kilometer circular track is located in San Jose, Nueva Ecija. It takes an average of 18 hours and 41 minutes to finish this fairly difficult trip. At calmer times of day, you may still enjoy some peace and quiet on this renowned mountain bike track.

4. Old San Jose Train Station
This is the Philippine National Railways branch line servicing Tarlac and Nueva Ecija that has been abandoned. There were additional plans to expand this route into the province of Cagayan, allowing services to connect almost all of the provinces in the valley.

5. St. Joseph Cathedral
Nueva Ecija's Roman Catholic Diocese of San Jose is housed at San Jose Cathedral, which honors Saint Joseph the Worker. It is also a popular pilgrimage site especially during Holy Week.
There were Augustinian missionaries in what is now Nueva Ecija province. They were the onese who built Carranglan, Pantabangan and Puncan parishes, which San Jose was once a part of as well. Kabaritan, an Ilocano phrase meaning "place bountiful in barit (a kind of rattan plant)," is what the city of San Jose was originally called by when it was a small fishing village. Since its incorporation in 1894 as a city, San Jose has served as a barrio of Puncan, then Lupao, and finally an autonomous municipality.
