How to Get Your PhilSys Digital ID or National ID Printed Copy
28 October 2022There are now three different forms of physical national identity or PhilID cards available, all of which were made available by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
According to the PSA when they issued recent public advice, they explain that the ePhilID is an alternative version of the PhilSys digital ID and that it includes the following details: PhilSys Card Number (PCN), Last name, given name, middle, and suffix (if available), Gender, Marital Status (if declared), Blood type, Date and place of birth, Front-facing photograph, Address, Generation date, and a QR Code.
Latest Update on the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) National ID
Earlier this year, in July, PSA announced its plans to issue 30 million physical cards and 20 million digital national IDs by the end of the year. The government hopes to roll out the mobile version of the digital PhilIDs by the end of the year and began pilot testing the printed form this October.
In addition, the PSA also said that no fee will be required to get a PhilID in any of its versions.
Fred Solleta, the Deputy National Statistician of the PhilSys Registry Office, said that the PSA is constantly working on the production and distribution of PhilID cards. This is done to reduce the gap between the number of people who registered and the number of cards that were actually handed out.
The PhilIDs will be delivered door-to-door by the PHLPost; however, for those who were not at home during the first two tries, a "plaza-type" distribution system will be put into place.
The PSA pledged in response to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s first SONA, or State of the Nation Address, to target 92 million released national IDs by mid-next year. The government also mentioned that they are committed to doing all in their power to issue 30 million IDs by the end of 2022.
This is also in relation to President Marcos Jr.'s confidence that the PhilID is essential in driving digital transformation in the nation.
What to expect in Digital PhilID Format
Similar to the physical PhilID cards that are now being delivered by the PSA's official courier partner, the Philippine Postal Corp. or PHLPost, the digital PhilID will have the same validity features. In actual fact, according to the PSA, security measures similar to those found on traditional ID cards will be included in the printed digital ID format.
It also includes a unique digital signature that can be verified using the PhilSys check. This signature is then encoded in a QR code for secure authentication. On top of that, it is also good to take note that the demographic information of registrants is also legible in hard copy.
The national government agencies also guaranteed that the PhilID, in whatever form it takes, will be usable and recognized as a legal identity document for private and government financial institutions as well as for other major transactions. Also, even though owners must still wait for their real PhilID cards to arrive in the mail, the PSA reassured them that they could use the digitally printed versions or the mobile ID application, both of which are freely available for download.
Steps in Getting the ePhilID
Are you still tracking the delivery status or waiting for the arrival of your physical national ID card? For those people who applied for a National ID but have not yet received it, you may now access a digital version of the card and have a printed copy of it.
Here are the measures you need to take to get a hard copy of your ePhilID:
Step 1. Go to https://trn-verifier.philsys.gov.ph/.
After reading the website's Privacy Notice, you may click the box and go on to the next page.
Step 2. Input your Transaction Reference Number (TRN).
Enter your Transaction Reference Number into the relevant field on the Verification page. Your 29-digit number may be found on the confirmation paper or transaction slip you received from your local government units' registration center after completing your Step 2 Registration.
Important Note: It is important to remember that not all users who have registered can have an ePhilID printed and that this service is not yet accessible in every area of the nation. Metro Manila, Bulacan, and Pampanga are the first launch areas. Also, please take note that you may see error messages indicating that your printed ePhilID is not yet ready while waiting for your PhilSys ID to be processed.
Step 3. Type in your full name, email address, and phone number.
PhilSys will then issue a One-Time Password (OTP) code to your email and phone number which will you need later on, so make sure to keep your lines active.
Step 4. Pick a registration center where you may get your ePhilID.
You may then find out when and where you can pick up your printed ePhilID and schedule an appointment. It's time for you to enter the OTP that was just delivered to your phone or email.
Step 5. Keep the email confirmation you received for your scheduled visit.
For your convenience, you can also print out and have a hard copy of your appointment slip.
Step 6. Go to your chosen registration center on your scheduled appointment date and time.
Don't forget to bring your confirmation of appointment, your receipt, and a government-issued ID for verification.
Step 7. Get your printed ePhilID.
Your application for an ePhilID has been approved! The printed ePhilID may be laminated to preserve the QR Code, which is required for verifying the ID's authenticity.
