National Holidays in the Philippines for 2023
The current government of the Philippines, under the administration of President Marcos, Jr., announces the dates of national holidays the year before they occur. Regular public holidays, special non-working days, and extra special non-working days make up the 2023 public holiday calendar.
Just to give you a quick background about some of the Philippine holidays, Easter and Christmas are the two most important holidays in the country because of the country's large Catholic population. In addition to this, due to the region's sizable Muslim population, many major Islamic festivals are also recognized and celebrated.
In August of 2022, Malacañang Palace formally implemented these official holidays.

Proclamation No. 90 (More Long Weekends)
Several new holidays were added to the calendar for 2023 as a result of Proclamation No. 90, issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on November 11. In light of the theory of holiday economics, which states that a long weekend would assist in boosting domestic travel and enhance tourist spending in the nation, PBBM asserts these holidays need to be adjusted.
Under this proclamation, April 10, 2023, which is a Sunday, was made as a holiday to celebrate Araw ng Kagitingan. Aside from that, PBBM shifted the annual Bonifacio Day celebration to November 27.
Also, in light of the fact that New Year's Day in 2023 would be a Sunday and, therefore, an opportunity for Filipinos to spend the day with friends and family, the President has likewise designated that day to be a special non-working holiday.
In addition, he made November 2, 2023, and December 31, 2023, special non-working days, thereby reversing the policy of not proclaiming All Souls' Day and the last day of the year as holidays in the last years of former President Rodrigo Duterte's term.
In line with this, it is important to take note that in the case of these non-working holidays, the "no work, no pay" policy is in effect.
