Riding the Rails: Advantages of Living Near PNR Tutuban-Malolos
27 February 2023No one can deny the significance of the growth of the Philippine rail network for the country's economy and urbanization.
In fact, aside from moving commodities, a railway network also serves as a mode of public transit, moving large numbers of people and their belongings to and from various locations around the nation in a fashion that is both "climate-smart" and "efficient." Transporting products and resources across areas and providing commute options for people are two ways railway networks contribute to economic development, thus the phrase "a system running on metal rails and wheels."
In addition to this, a railway line in the provinces, such as the PNR Tutuban-Malolos Clark Railway Project, also plays an important role in the market value of a house and lot in the Philippines.
What is the North-South Commuter Railway Project?
NSCR Project includes the Malolos-Manila and Clark Extension segments of the line previously known as the Clark-Calamba Railway, with a link to Clark International Airport. The NSCR is an urban rail transit system spanning 163 kilometers, with the goals of facilitating more environmentally friendly transportation options, shortening travel times, and improving accessibility between Central Luzon and CALABARZON.
With a total length of 38 kilometers and a budget of Php 149.13 billion, the NSCR Malolos-Manila connects Tutuban (Manila) to Malolos City, Bulacan. The construction on the project began on February 1, 2019 with a groundbreaking ceremony.
In April of 2022, the Philippine National Railways (PNR) Clark 1 (Tutuban-Malolos) Balagtas Station's structural works were finished. This work represents the first phase of the North-South Commuter Railways (NSCR) System. The DOTr emphasized the significance of the PNR Clark 1 Balagtas Station's finalization to the successful completion of the NSCR project as a whole.
A project funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency
The PNR North 1 Project, also known as the south ine or the North-South Commuter Railway Project (Malolos-Tutuban), was signed in November 2015 with funding from the Japan International Cooperation Agency. A financing agreement of $1.99 billion was reached between the Philippines and Japan to fund the railway project.
The Asian Development Bank will co-finance the remaining phases of the NSCR project.
