Tara! Let's Experience Bulacan!
2 May 2020Watch Joey of Lumina Business Development Group as he talks about the best features — tourist destinations, local delicacies, major expressways, and Lumina's affordable housing projects — of some of the progressive towns in Bulacan.
One of the most progressive provinces in Luzon is Bulacan. It is known for its rich history and culture ad can be found just around 35 kilometers from Manila. The Province of Bulacan is tagged as the Gateway of the North because of its proximity to Manila. That's why most locals from northern Luzon pass here to go to the capital city. Bulacan Province is also surrounded by other big provinces like Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, and Tarlac.
Some historical icons were also born from Bulacan, like the famous Filipino poet Francisco Balagtas and national heroes like Marcelo H. del Pilar and Gregorio del Pilar.
Where to go in Bulacan?
The Province of Bulacan is also famous for its tourist attractions.
Barasoain Church
Malolos City, Bulacan's Barasoain Church, is a Roman Catholic Church. It has a well-deserved reputation for having played an essential role in Philippine history throughout the late Spanish and early American eras. A mute testimony to the present time is that it is distinct from its history yet steadfast in the face of the problems ahead.
The Barasoain Church hosted the opening of the First Philippine Congress on September 15, 1898, the writing of the Malolos Constitution from September 29, 1898, to January 21, 1899, and the inauguration of the First Philippine Republic on January 23, 1899.
Meanwhile, for people who have a great love for water adventure, you can go to the different resorts from Malolos, Calumpit, and Pandi. But if your goal is to have a more challenging summer adventure and thrilling experiences with your barkada, you can go to San Rafael.
San Rafael River Adventure
SRRA's resort and events center is the ideal spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and have a peaceful getaway. With just an hour's drive from the Balintawak exit, the SRRA provides a perfect location for your unique moments with family or friends in an unexpected paradise.
Their site in San Rafael, Bulacan, can seat 400 people and is nestled in a green parkland right next to the river, with a stunning view of the river. This place is also perfect for sunset weddings and other romantic gatherings.
On the other hand, if you're looking for nature tripping and hiking as your stress relievers, you can visit San Miguel Bulacan.
Biak na Bato National Park
Ecologically and historically significant, Biak na Bato is situated only a few kilometers from San Miguel Bulacan. These "split boulders" were a mountain refuge for Filipino revolutionary fighters under Spanish rule.
There are several biological features in this 2,100-hectare national park, including hanging bridges and stairs linking rivers and caverns, twisting streams, cascading waterfalls, and dense woods. Caves like Bahay Paniki, Aguinaldo and Madium, and Tanggapan, which was the hiding of Aguinaldo and other revolutionary warriors during the Filipino-Spanish War, are now open to the public to explore.
What to eat?
With all the great travel attractions in Bulacan, you must be looking forward to a sumptuous meal. It's excellent that Bulacan has some great delicacies like the crispy chicharon from Sta. Maria and San Miguel Bulacan. This is the perfect partner for a bowl of hot rice or even just for snacks. Speaking of snacks, Bulacan also have sweet and tasty rice cakes from Marilao, yummy ensaymada from Malolos, and Minasa cookies in Bustos, Bulacan.
Road developments and infrastructures
If you're worried about your travel in Bulacan, then you must not hear yet of their two newly opened exits, the Tambobong-Bocaue Exit, and the Philippine Arena-Sta. Maria Exit.
Tambobong-Bocaue Exit
As an alternate route for commuters heading to Sta. Maria, Angat, and Pandi in Eastern Bulacan, this new junction was built. The access to the new course is projected to improve movement inside the Bulacan road network and ease congestion at the Bocaue Interchange.
As you enter from the southbound side, you'll find a 2-lane ramp leading to the northbound entrance and a 3-lane ramp leading to the northern exit at the NLEX Tambobong Interchange. In addition, RFID lanes are included to promote cashless purchases and to expedite the transaction process.
Philippine Arena-Sta. Maria Exit
To alleviate the traffic congestion at the Bocaue Interchange, the Philippine Arena Northbound Entry and Exit Toll Plaza were established. Motorists traveling to the cities of Sta. Maria, Angat, and Norzagaray in the province of Bulacan would benefit from this new route. Five departure lanes and three entering lanes make up the eight-lane toll plaza.
New Manila International Airport
For more than a decade, the building has been underway at the New Manila International Airport, commonly known as the Bulacan International Airport, located just 35 kilometers from Manila.
Bulakan is home to a 2,500-hectare chunk of land that will be used to build, operate, and maintain an international airport that will be contemporary and efficient. When finished, the New Manila International Airport will have four runways, with the potential for an additional two and passenger terminal buildings with amenities on both the airside and ground.
Bulacan Mega City Economic Zone
Residential, government, seaport, and industrial zones are all part of the proposed 12,000-hectare mega city in Bulacan that will traverse the towns of Pandi, Balagtas, and Bocaue. This Php 50 billion projects, which is estimated to generate 100,000 new employments for the community, is designed to be a technological hub that houses outlet shops, a shopping mall, manufacturing enterprises, warehouses, and contact centers.
