Adventures to Take in Cagayan
1. 10,000 Steps Adventure
One of the world's most beautiful bridges is the Buntun Bridge in Cagayan, Philippines, located in the province of Cagayan. The bridge is claimed to be long enough to sing the whole length of the Philippine National Anthem while walking here.
The Cagayan River may be crossed here by the Cagayan River Bridge or Buntun Bridge. It's the longest river bridge in the nation at 1369 meters. Since its inception in 1947, it has been dubbed the "Gateway to Tuguegarao City." Typhoons Ondoy and Juan almost inundated the bridge, which had never been flooded before.
You can visit here and do the 10,000 Steps Challenge with your friends and loved ones. While walking, you can also enjoy witnessing the magnificent beauty of the Cagayan River. Honestly, one of the simple activities you can do in Cagayan but with great experience and moments!
2. Stairway to Heaven Adventure
You can have this adventure by taking a trip to the Calvary Hills located in Iguig, Cagayan.
During Lent and Holy Week, many Catholics go to Calvary Hills to commemorate the death of Jesus on the cross. The Cagayan River, mimicking the world-famous Jordan River, flows over an 11-hectare expanse of undulating hills. With a steep staircase rising from the church to huge green rolling hills, you may get a spectacular river view.
Fourteen concrete sculptures of Jesus Christ show his crucifixion and resurrection at Calvary Hills, symbolizing his sufferings before his death on Mount Calvary. Calvary Hills is a great place to do the Stations of the Cross since each station is separated, ensuring a peaceful and respectful atmosphere. The area is large enough to accommodate a large population, even during the busiest times of the year. In 1892, Reverend Rogelio Cortez began building the church. Being considered a major Pilgrimage Tourist Destination in Cagayan, Mount Calvary of the Far East became another name for this sacred place.
The San Antonio de Galicia Church greets visitors to the Calvary Hills. One of the few surviving Catholic Churches in the Philippines with a buttress may be seen in this church constructed in the late 1700s.
3. Bedazzling Light from under a Cave Adventure
Located in Cagayan Province, the Callao Cave is one of the Philippines' most renowned tourist attractions. A 30-minute drive from Tuguegarao, Peñablanca Protected Landscape, and Seascape's Callao Cave are some of more than 300 caverns found around the protected area. As a result of the limestone structures, artifact-filled passageways, and stairways leading through the chambers, this tour is known as a callado in Spanish, meaning peaceful, by locals.
As opposed to the other recognized caves in the Philippines, Callao Caves is a very simple and non-technical cave to explore. On your own, you can even go about without a guide because of the natural light that passes through the cave. The formations at Callao Cave include the Column, Chapel, Skeleton, Elephant's Head, Praying Angel, Rocket, Lion's Head, and Dog's Head, which pretty made up the total seven chambers in the cave.
Before you can reach the cave, though, you have to climb the 108 steps staircase that will challenge your stamina. But all this exhaustion is worth it since upon reaching the cave, you can witness the splendid and gorgeous rocks formation and nature, as well as a magnificent chapel that is made more impressive due to the reflection of natural light inside it.
As a popular tourist destination, the Chapel is a chamber that has been converted into a cathedral by the townspeople and is featured in numerous tourism advertising and postcards. The hall is illuminated by the skylight's opening, creating a dramatic scene.
The Pinacanauan River, with its cliffs, bat cave, and lovely river banks, is a must-see when visiting the region. The water is crystal clear and suitable for swimming, making it a great place to ride a wooden boat.
Road developments in Cagayan
Your adventure trip and exploration in Cagayan can be made much more accessible and convenient through these road development projects from the government's Build, Build, Build Program.
Tuguegarao West Diversion Road
Tuguegarao West Diversion Road consists of a four-lane main road and bike lanes, and a center island.
Construction of Drainage Systems Along Balzain-Caritan Creek
In addition, they're now working on a drainage system along Balzain-Caritan Creek that will help prevent flooding, making it easier for city drivers to get products and services around the clock.
Tuguegarao-Solana Bypass Road
The Tuguegarao-Solana Bypass Road is another widening and development project that will benefit passengers. The construction of a 4.8-mile bypass route between Tuguegarao and Solana will ease traffic congestion in the city's core business district. In the year 2023, this project is projected to be completed.
