Hill Side 7016 of Pagadian City Joins Lumina Hiphop to the Top Dance Contest

7 February 2022

The 1990s were known as the "golden era" of Pinoy hip hop because they saw a flurry of rapid stylistic developments starting in 1991 with the founding of the Disco Mix Club Philippines, which was one of the first sites for Philippine DJ mixing fights. It was popularized by DJs such as Carlo Yalos, Noel Macanay, Rod "DVS" Torres, and Omar Lacap, who pioneered the style back in the day.

And since it is the Golden Age of Hip Hop in the Philippines, some dance groups got the limelight in this genre that can still be remembered until now. Below are the Top 5 most well-known dance groups in the 90s.

Abztract Dancers

Compared to the other dance group in this list, Dingdong Dantes, Dino Guevarra, and Sherwin Ordonez from Abztract Dancers may not have been recognized for their dance moves. Still, it's impossible to dispute that the group could generate people with flourishing careers beyond their peak. Zay Villavert was the driving force behind the formation of the group back in 1995. The Abztract Dancers appeared on the variety program Eat Bulaga, as well as That's Entertainment.

X-People Dancers

Although the X-People Dancers were smaller than the other three groups on our list, they had their famous dance movements that made Filipinos get up and dance to the beat. Feel Like Dancin' and Throw Ur Hands in the Air were two of the first songs to popularize the dancing craze that they helped to establish in the music industry.

Universal Motion Dancers (UMD)

Universal Motion Dancers, or UMD, was born out of one of the Philippines' most beloved variety programs, That's Entertainment. Members of the group started their careers as backup dancers in 1991 before deciding to join a band with the name UMD. A lot of people in the Philippines credit the trio for igniting a passion for street hip-hop dancing. Members like Wowie de Guzman, the late Gerard Fainsan, James and Jim Salas, and Brian Furlow were all remembered fondly.

Aside from this, various dance moves were also popularized by the group. The Butterfly dance step is among the most well-known examples of their UMD style.

Manoeuvres

When Manoeuvres was first introduced in 1985, it was known as WEA dynamics. In 1989, the name was changed to Manoeuvres. Pop-and-lock dancing movements were the group's ticket to stardom. Joshua and Jason Zamora, along with other members of the group, gained success in the entertainment business when their dancing days came to an end.

Streetboys

Often seen as UMD's greatest rival, Streetboys rose to fame with their breakthrough track "Boom Tiyaya," which swept the Philippine dance scene off their feet. That's Entertainment was the birthplace of UMD, while ABS-CBN's ASAP had Streetboys as their first dance group in the early days of the network. The group, on the other hand, was not your typical dance group. They were a cut above the rest of the country's dancing groups because of their jaw-dropping antics.

Despite the group's ultimate breakup, several of its members' solo careers flourished in the entertainment world. Spencer Reyes was cast alongside Aiza Seguerra, while Danilo Barrios became a famous actor. Currently, It's Showtime have Jhong Hilario and Vhong Navarro as their hosts. And it's not only Vhong and Jhong who make regular appearances in films and television shows because the best thing about this group is that they put on shows and get together every now and then.

The talents and prowess of Filipinos in Hip Hop dancing are genuinely timeless as their grooves can still be remembered today. And since we're talking about timelessness, Hill Side 7016 from Pagadian City showed us their skills in Hip Hop dancing and the beauty of Pagadian City.

Let's Hip Hop to the Top

Lumina Homes started its first nationwide hiphop dance competition by inviting all hiphop groups to showcase their talents, as well as the beauty of their province, in a dance video. Pagadian is known as the "Little Hong Kong of the South" because of its great tourist spots.

Rotonda Park

If you're visiting Pagadian for the first first time, you should begin your journey in Rotonda Park, which is perched atop Bulatoc Hill; as little as Php 20 for three rounds of horseback riding is available here. It's possible to get a good look at Pajares Avenue from a nearby observation deck.

For a location to rest or shoot photos for Instagram, the Rotonda is the best option. Views of the steep town and Yllana Bay may be seen from Rotonda, which is located at the top of the hill.

Pajares Avenue

If you're wondering why Pagadian has been nicknamed "Little Hong Kong of the South" since there are no skyscrapers or crowded high-rise apartment complexes, and it's absolutely as clean as the latter, then walk to the highest altitude of Pajares Avenue in the front of Rotonda Park. For those who have never been to Hong Kong, Pajares Avenue, Pagadian City's main street, is a stark reminder of its high topography.

Inclined Tricycles

One of the top things that you need to do when you find yourself visiting the beautiful Pagadian City is to try their inclined tricycles. This is the best experience for tourists, regardless of whether they are locals or travelers from other countries.

Although tricycles are common in the Philippines, Pagadian's inclined tricycle is absolutely a one-of-a-kind creation. These tricycles can readily ascend the city's steep terrain thanks to its' unique inclination design of 25 to 40-degree angles.

These tourist spots and food hubs that you can see only in Pagadian can be visited in only a couple of minutes if you are living in Lumina Pagadian.

Lumina Pagadian is a thriving and peaceful community of Vista Land, the developer of known housing brands like Vista Residences, Camella Homes, Camella Manors, Brittany, Crown Asia, and Lessandra. It is accessible and close to major infrastructures and facilities in the area, not to mention the thoroughfares and highways.

Enjoy the lifetime of perks of living in this "Little Hong Kong of the South" with Lumina Pagadian.
